Andi and her husband Donnie co-own Johnson Well Drilling in Sylvania,
GA.(If you ever need a well drilled or a pump fixed, call us, we come to
Millen often). Andi's profession is horse trainer, riding instructor and
horse-show judge. She has one son named J.D. who is 4 and a step-daughter
named Miah who is 14.
She runs in the 36-39 age division and runs about
30-40 miles per week. She ran high-school cross-country and track(1/2 miler
2:38 and miler 5:50). Then, she enlisted in the US Air Force, where she ran
in combat boots with the men.
Running was the one thing she could do as
well as the men, some of them used to really pick up the pace to wear her
out but I just kept on going. Running really gave her the confidence to
stay in there with them when the going got tough. She got extra recognition
for running in some events while she was in training which really helped
her excel in some aspects of her career.
She runs because she likes to
feel healthy and it is great stress relief. She also enjoys horseback
riding, swimming, singing in church.
Her PR 10-K is 51:25, 5-K is 22:36,
1/2 marathon is 1:54.
Her favorite pre-race food is peanut-butter and
jelly. Her advice to beginners: do not underestimate yourself, just hang in
there and really try to appreciate the run. As for injuries, try to avoid
them at all costs, really listen to your body and be sure to wear a good
shoe.
If she can get enough time to train for a Marathon, she would like to
run the Marine Corp Marathon someday. If you ever want to run at the track
in Sylvania, give her a call.
Note From Ray - Andi was the overall female winner of the 1st Super Eagle Day 5K last March in Millen!
