Clint Watkins and Andi Johnson won the male and female division of the 1st Super Eagle Day 5K on March 20, 2004. Watkins shook off Millen challenger David Williams at about 1 1/2 miles and cruised to a 2 1/2 minute victory. Watkins finished the 3.1 mile race in a course record 16:45, Williams finished second in 19:12.

Andi Johnson made the short drive from Sylvania and set the women's course record with a time of 23:17. Johnson started strong and finished 1 1/2 minutes ahead of runner-up Caroline Green. Green's time was 24:49.

A number of local residents picked up age group awards in the 5K. Boyd Sasser, Jamar Holmes, Will Brinson, Ken Mobley and Ralphael Lovett led a Millen sweep in the 11- 14 age group. David Williams, Stuart Burrus and Tony Williams claimed the awards in the 15 - 19 age group. Tamia Lovett, Judy Holton, Pam Dwight, and Julian Wade all finished 1st in their respective age groups, and Hillary Oliver finished 2nd in her age group.

Former Millen resident, Dana Cowart, won the gold medal in the 30 - 34 age group.

A total of 20 runners completed the Super Eagle Day 5K Road Race.

There were 38 runners and walkers in the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk that started the morning's activities. Caleb Wilson was first to cross the finish line in the non-competitive 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. Joining Caleb was Cody Birdwell, Don Burke, Jacob Burke, Lisa Burke, Sara Burke, Brookes Brinson, Jancey Brinson, Matt Brinson, Darrel Clifton, Margaret Clifton, Irene Drummer, Wesley Finch, William, Finch, Debbie Fountain, Laura Gainey, Darlene Gay, Jennifer Gay, Sue Gillis, Renee Hearn, Taylor Hearn, Robert Highsmith, Embree Jenkins, Jeana Jenkins, Sarah Jenkins, Vivian Jenkins, Justin Lee, Kolton Lee, Dwana McLamb, Grace McLamb, Kristin McLamb, Raymond McLamb, Ragan Pollock, Janice Reese, Hillary Sharpe, Steven Sharpe, Judy Taylor and Libby Williams.

In addition to the road races, there was a Super Eagle Community Health Fair and Reading Expo. Representatives from Jenkins County Hospital were Alvin Burke, Angie Sullivan, Jennifer Johnson, Donna Burke, Sandra Harley, Gloria Small, Emory Gordon and Donna Rabitsch.

Representatives from the Jenkins County Health Department were Pam Drake and Donna Hendley. Also on hand was Holli Dirst, coordinator of the Jenkins County medicad program.

Christine Stripling and Stacy Warren from the Jenkins County 21st Century Office and Debra Herrmann from Jenkins County School Food Services were on hand to give out snacks and nutrition information.

There was also a Reading Expo where students had an opportunity to listen to books being read by Carol Cates, Jerry Henry, Vickie Odom, Carroll Gay and Lora Burns.

MPD officers Keith Taylor and David Pollett were on hand to escort runners safely through the streets of Millen, while Cliff Richardson and Wayne Fields from Jenkins County Emergency Management Team were on hand in case any runners or walkers had any physical problems.

The race was coordinated by the Millen Milers. On hand from the Millen Milers were Rob Sharkey, Jim Hite, Joyce Hodges-Hite, Diane Wade, Joe Sasser, Eddie Shelton, Charley Waters and Pat Miller. Interact members Cheri Parker and Rebakah Daniel volunteered to help at the finish table. JCHS track team members Willie Stone, Donnell Diaz and Authur Milton helped with the water table on the race course.
